Established five years ago, YABA was created to provide a voice for the Yorkshire Asian Business community, research has shown that the Asian business community make an enormous contribution to UK plc.

The Yorkshire Asian Business Association are here to provide a voice for business on a regional, national and international level.

Diaspora Matters:

Whilst Asians make up 2.3% of the population within the UK, they contribute over 8% to the GDP. (Guardian, 2015), Asians are up to four times more likely to be more entrepreneurial than their UK counterparts. (ABC, 2016), within the UK Asian owned businesses contribute over £120bn to the economy each year. (Manchester News, 2017)

The aims and objectives of YABA

To continually monitor the needs of its members and the broader business community and effectively respond to the changing needs of its members

To effectively represent its members at all levels within the business community by actively driving forward relevant business issues and seeking clarification of issues which may, do or will affect its members:

Facilitating inward investment and joint trade opportunities between the membership and the Indian Sub-continent

To actively seek partnerships with other organisations which can assist in the attainment of YABA’s mission

R

To communicate and inform members of issues and initiatives which can assist in the better management of their operations

R

To facilitate opportunities where effective networking can occur for the membership

  • Social Media campaigns
  • High profile Gala Awards Dinner, which recognises and celebrates successful businesses from the region

  • Organised two Northern Powerhouse trade missions to India: November 2017 and April 2018 for 10 businesses
  • Welcomed the Deputy High Commissioner Andrew Ayre who brought 17 Indian investors to Yorkshire please click here for more information
  • Arranged the Chief Minister of Haryana’s visit with Leeds City Region CEOs and leaders of the Council and the Advanced Manufacturing Park in Sheffield, the Indian Ministers office was visiting the UK for joint venture opportunities between the state of Haryana and the UK.
